The Ecclesial Context, Exploring Sacred Space as Site for Contemporary Art Intervention.

Firstly, the paper discusses how contemporary artists can work in church rooms. How do artists cope with a situation that is both open to new art and restricted by its particular liturgical use? Where are the borders of tolerance for artist and patron, both?

Secondly, the author’s artistic contribution in Oslo Cathedral in 2005 is presented.

Thirdly, the paper as such reflects on how theory and personal work may be combined and presented in a written paper, thereby offering an example of artistic research.
