“JUMPING SPARKS”. Considering the spark between Context, Concept and Creativity through interdisciplinary collaborations to produce time-based installations

JUMPING SPARKS will chart art/science interdisciplinary collaborations related to Hooker`s research into the production of three-dimensional works inspired by the patterns that occur within natural phenomena such as weather systems and astronomical data. This currently involves research into Intergalactic Cosmic Ray activity. Cosmic rays are particles – normally invisible – that constantly rain down on us from our sun and other stars, travel through walls and buildings, through us all and through the Earth itself to continue their journey across the universe. By using Geiger Counters as switches, Hooker is currently using these particles to trigger MIDI-controlled audio transducers.
